Utility or Art Knife With Pine Handle
Description
AR25 – A subtle little utility or art knife, this little thing feels more stable in the hand than many larger knives. It is 6 ¼” overall, with a 2 ½” blade of 1095 high carbon steel. It has a full exposed tang, visible around the redheart and pine burl handle and leather spacer. Four brass pins hold it all together. It is stamped AR and 25.I have not made a sheath for this knife.
Materials of interest:
1095 high carbon steel: A fine traditional knife making steel, holds a good edge, fairly tough, and easy to heat treat. This is not a stainless steel, so it will rust.
Redheart: A Mexican hardwood named fairly obviously for the red color of its heartwood.
Pine Burl: I picked up this scrap of pine burl in the Sierra Nevada’s in Southern California.
THIS IS A GREAT PARING KNIFE! ALSO GREAT FOR CARVING!
