Smoky Quartz Wrapped Circle Earrings in 14k Gold Fill

Description

20 gauge 14k gold fill round wire is hand formed into a circle, hammered in a graduated fashion to give it strength and aesthetic appeal, and polished to a shine. Small, faceted smoky quartz rondelles are threaded onto fine 12k gold fill wire and wrapped around the circular frame. Hung on hand forged (shaped, cut, deburred, lightly hammered, and polished) 14k gold fill earwires. A clean shape, elegant in its simplicity, with dark smoky gems that pair nicely with any wardrobe.

Measures 1 1/8” wide and 1.75” long.

What is Gold Fill Wire? Gold fill wire is made by forming a tube of gold (10, 12, or 14k) and filling it with a base metal (usually brass). The gold content is 5%, or 1/20th of the total metal content of the wire. This is not the same as gold plated – gold fill contains 100 times more gold than does gold plated. Gold fill wire is strong, durable, resistant to tarnish, and should last a lifetime without showing signs of wear.
