Custom Mask (example, not for sale)

Description

This mask, November, was inspired by Catherynne Valente's amazing new novel Palimpsest, as a commissioned piece for the author.

"It showed faithfully on that morning, ringed with baroque foliage, her face: a messy knot of hair, a mild brown gaze--and a black mark like a slap on her cheek, an explosion of lines and angles like the work of a furious spider or a drunken architect, brachiating from a point near her ear up towards the corner of her right eye and down towards the crease of her lip. She put her hand against it, shaking--rubbed at it, but it remained, a mark like the one on Xiaohui’s vanished thigh, hot, as though only just branded there."

This intricate mask is a road map for the city of palimpsest, raised and stained streets, burned and painted houses of city blocks petering out to suburbs as it wraps around the back of the neck cradling the collarbone.

This piece is one of a kind and not for sale or recreation, although I would make something similar if that's what you wanted. I'm posting this piece as an example of my custom work... tell me what you want and I will give it form.

For custom work, I may request a photograph of your face, so I can design a piece that will suit you, be yours. A mask never looks the same on two faces, and I want to make the mask for your face.
