Textile art, little quilted dress with a Big Heart zne

The first two little dresses I altered were actually real baby dresses, but little ones are hard to find, so I made my own.This gorgeous piece was cut freehand out of coffee-dyed cotton muslin, and backed with a heavier fabric. It has a lightly stuffed heart made out of old deep BURGUNDY velvet (the color doesn't scan well and looks black in the photo), embellished with gold beads, a tiny blue bead, vintage lace, tulle and cheesecloth.
