Happy Bunny - Tile Ornament

Description

Here's the first in a series of tiny tiles based on the old "Animal Rummy" card game. When I first found this old deck of cards, fond memories came back to me and I just had to carve them to add them to my "tiny tiles" collection!

The image of this bunny has been carved and pressed into clay to create a small tile. I've glazed this one with a transparent claret maroon/brown crackle. A small ribbon for hanging is securely attached to the back. It measures approximately 1 3/4 wide" x 2 1/8" tall.

I carved the image in wax and then poured a plaster mould. After extruding a thin slab of porcelain clay, the plaster mould is pressed into the clay, the tile is cut around the edges. After drying, the edges are sponged, the tile is fired, glazed, and fired again. A lot of work for a little piece of art! Each one is slightly different - because they're handmade!
