A tribute to Japanese FRUiTS culture and the Harajuku Girls necklace

For a little while now, I have been intrigued and inspired by the Japanese FRUiTS culture. The implementation of the bold, ridiculous, fun, uninhibited and colorful explosions of style had me going NUTS. When I was dreaming about my new website, I came up with a photography concept that had to include a tribute to this style.

I created 5 characters---different women from different walks of life---who had two things in common:

1) ...with an inability to get their lives together---disheveled, distraught, depressed and/or downtrodden in one way or another.

2) ...they have a brush with betsy & iya jewelry and make a shrewd decision to implement it into their lives, thus beginning their transformations into their true, great, stunningly beautiful selves.

Since the website's launch, I have gotten countless compliments on the homepage girls. I'd been hiding the necklaces, waiting to put them on display. Recently, I brought them back out into my tiny shop/studio. The attention they have gotten has convinced me that I need to share them with the world.

Please be aware that you can ask for different color-combos of both the owls and lovebirds. I'd love to make it exactly how you want it. Also, the closure is a ribbon, so you can wear it like a choker (as shown) or you can hang it where you wish.

loads and loads of colorful vintage celluloid lovebirds and owls. vintage filigree robin's egg blue balls, vintage fuchsia ring, vintage starburst embellishment. wire and metalwork construction, ribbon (the back is held together with a long ribbon). This piece is very large and very long.
