Original oil painting - Still Life Etruscan vase

Oil painting on canvas.
This painting participated to a non competitive exhibition, with a fixed theme.
The theme was to include, in the order desired, 10 items: an Etruscan vase, a chandler, two books, a pair of glasses, a pencil, some daffodils, apples, lemons, strawberries and roses.
I thought a lot about how to arrange the various objects: I purposely painted the jar open and inserted the fruit inside to signify that history is our mother and generates what we are today. I inserted the candle off next to the old books: we do not always look at history to be enlightened, to learn.
Then my brush painted without any more reasoning ... The emotional and creative part of me overcame my attempt to rationalize the position of the objects ... However, why did I crush the flowers under the books? Why can the pencil be seen through the lens of the glasses?
I don’t know why, but the result was that the painting was very much appreciated and commented upon.


This is sold without frame (only the support frame) and is shipped in a flat package.
