TREASURE BREAST - Rusty Earthtone Clay with purple glaze and keyed lid

What can I say! It's more than just a lidded box...a mountain? Or...maybe it's Persephone's breast. (Remember the Greek goddess who was abducted into the underworld for 6 months of each year?) Well, here she arises from darkness, one nurturing breast at a time, signifying the return of light. (Just can't keep a good woman down...even when the days are getting shorter. Is Persephone determined to to break out of the underworld, no longer held captive by ancient Greek legends?...hmmmm.) You go girl!

The four direction symbol was imprinted with a bone cylinder tool that my brother carved for me with his antique dentist drill! Dark brick colored clay with purple glaze on the inside and the keyed lid only fits on a certain way. Approx. 5 1/2 wide by 6 inches tall.
