28 gauge dead soft gold filled - 10 feet

28ga dead soft - this is the thinnest gold-filled wire I've got, good for mesh jewelry, wire knitting or crochet, and is recommended by Eni Oken in her tutorials for her beautiful woven work! (which you can find here: http://www.enioken.com/jewelry/technique.html )

Info on gold filled:

This wire is 14/20 (the 14 is carat quality, and the 20 is the inner core, generally made out of brass).

Now what does that all mean? Here's a little bit of a synopsis taken from Ganoksin (http://www.ganoksin.com/orchid/archive/200608/msg00206.htm)
"Gold Filled is made by mechanically applying a sheet of Gold to a non-precious metal sheet (generally brass)...Another advantage of Gold Filled over Gold Plated is that for most people with allergies to base metal, 14kt Gold Filled is hypo-allergenic. It does not seem to have an adverse reaction on sensitive skin, as all that touches the skin is the 14kt Gold surface."

The reason gold filled has a higherprice tag than sterling is because of the content of precious 14K gold. It's about as good as you can get without going with 14K solid gold...for a fraction of the price! For those who are more used to working with Sterling, this wire does feel a little different - it's smidgen more light weight.

There is also 12K and 10K gold filled available - this does make a difference in price and color of the wire! Make sure you know which you are getting to assure quality.

Not recommended for soldering unless you are a highly experienced metalsmith.
