Crocheted Doily, Medium Yellow

Description

This doily is a modern design in an unusual octagonal shape. It features a unique pattern stitch of double crochets done around chain loops creating a scalloped effect with interesting variations in density.

Approximate Size: 28 inches point to point.
Weight: 88 g

Color: Medium Yellow, called "maize" by the manufacturer. The color of this thread is very difficult to capture correctly in the photograph, in which it looks paler than it actually is. Calling it "corn yellow" is pretty accurate.

Thread: 100% cotton crochet thread, size 10, glossy finish; Cebelia by DMC (I think).

The slight ruffling seen in the photograph comes from folding for storage; it will lie flat when I re-block before shipping.

Care: this doily is 100% cotton and can be washed gently by hand. Lay flat on a towel to dry at room temperature, then block into shape.

Blocking: I never starch my doilies. To block them I use a hot steam iron to press the doilies into shape, working from the center out, pulling out and pressing individual picots on the border. This technique gives a nice body to the crocheted piece but retains a pleasant, natural feel.
