Foldformed Post Earrings

Description

These flowers are fabricated using foldforming techniques with thin (24 gauge/ 0.5 mm)sheet of copper.

Foldforming is a labor intensive process which consists on cutting, folding, hammering, annealing, more hammering and more annealing sheets of metal. It is a conceptual, physical, and intuitive approach to metalsmithing that is informed by the natural characteristics of metals, and where the marks of process are compositional design choices.

The flowers remind me of anise seed pods. They measure about 1" by 1" by 3/8". I've soldered them to a 20 gauge sterling silver post, and have given the flowers a verdigris patina.
