Needle-Felted Rhino Beetle

Description

This needle-felted rhino beetle was created through a time-consuming process of dry-felting wool roving by hand using varying gauges of barbed needles. The resulting soft-sculpture is firm to the touch but should be handled gently. It measures 1 ¾ inches at the widest point of the body and 7 inches long. The head alone measures 5 inches. The beetle’s six legs are constructed from a stainless steel wire armature that is wrapped with kid merino yarn. Each leg measures roughly 2 inches, and are poseable within reason. The eyes are German glass teddy bear eyes that have been securely attached to the beetle’s head. A set of black wool felt wing casings have been hand sewn to the beetle’s back.

Due to the wires, glass eyes, and general delicate nature of needle-felted objects, this beetle is not intended as a child's plaything...sorry kiddoes, you will have to play with the real ones. Rather, this beastie should be considered as a collectible.
