Happy Birthday Fairy Cake Recycled Felt Food Sculpture

The small, British version of the American cupcake. Usually covered in drizzly icing instead of frosting and covered with sprinkles, silver balls or sugar flowers they are perfect for afternoon tea, parties or to leave out for the fairies that give them their name ;)

They are the stuff of childhood memories: just one nibble can transport you back in time and even today, no self-respecting children's birthday party would be without them.

My mother used to make beautifully decorated trays of fairy cakes for every event. I still remember her turning up at school on its centennial birthday with trays of iced fairy cakes, each sporting a hand-drawn icing school crest! I have now taken over the mantel and am already debating icing plans for the tray I am to make for my Aunt's birthday...the day before St Valentine's Day ;)

This fairy cake comes in a pink lace patterned "paper" case and is topped by white icing (some dripped over the side...), chocolate sprinkles, silver balls and a lit bright pink candle.

Makes a perfect, calorie free, lasting Birthday or party gift.

Made from recycled felt and stuffed with polyfil. Completely hand sewn, embroidered and stuffed.

Please note that as each cake is hand cut and sewn, the case icing, candle and decoration may very slightly in each piece.
