Maasai Shield Pendant tutorial

Description

This listing is for a tutorial showing you how to make this Massai Shield pendant; it is not for the pendant itself. This tutorial is great for an intermediate wire wrapper, but I have broken it down enough for even a beginner to master it with a little practice. There are 27 steps fully explained, 60 full color high-resolution pictures to show each step, as well as tips for wrapping that can be used in any wire wrapping. There are no soldering skills needed for this pendant, this is made totally from a few hand tools, wire, and beads. This listing is just for the tutorial, not for the supplies needed.

This pendant finished should measure about 3 inches long including the bail.

Included in this tutorial are instruction on how to naturally oxidize your finisehd piece as well, with things you probably already have in your house!

*The last picture shows you a variation on this pendant I did in sterling silver and iolite, it is to show you another example, it is not for sale.*

For this pendant you will need the following...

18 inches of 18 gauge dead soft wire. (I used copper, but also have used half hard sterling for this style piece as well)

7 feet of 24 gauge wire dead soft. (I used copper for this as well, but you can use whatever wire you like)

30- 3mm round copper beads (or whatever 3mm beads you are using)

11- 2 mm sterling silver round beads (or whatever 2mm beads you are using)

5- 24 gauge headpins in whatever metal you choose.

6- 2.5mm sterling silver round beads (or whatever 2mm beads you choose)

4- 3-4mm Bali spacer beads

Round nose pliers

Chain nose pliers

Flush cutter or other wire cutter

Hammer or mallet

Bench block or other hard surface for hammering

Knitting needle or pen, what ever you have that you can use as a small round mandrel
