The design of this journal/sketchbook is based on a book that was made in Europe in 1364.

I made this beautiful journal/sketchbook entirely by hand from premium, full grain, black cowhide. I used waxed Irish linen thread and pieces of a rich, deep yellow goatskin to create the medieval style binding with exposed stitching on outer spine.

It has a wrap-around black elkhide strap to keep the journal closed and protect the pages--handy if you like to carry your journal/sketchbook with you.

The open book lays flat, making it easy to use. High quality 50 lb sketch paper, acid free and archival. Pages are hand-torn for old-world feeling. Perfect for writing, drawing with pencil, pen, charcoal and pastel. Paper works well for calligraphy, and for writing with a fountain pen.
