Chocolate Cornflake Cake Recycled Felt Food Sculpture

A gooey mixture of chocolate, golden syrup, butter and cornflakes set in the fridge in paper cases, chocolate cornflake cakes are often the first cakes British children are "helped" to make and are a mainstay of birthday parties throughout the land!

Other ingredients can be added...my Mother made them out of rice crispies instead of cornflakes, an old flame used to melt Mars Bars and add crushed refreshers that fizzed in the mouth, friends add hundreds & thousands, silver sugar balls or little jelly sweets on top and I have known them with raisins or other dried fruit added...but they are at heart a simple and ridiculously moreish treat.

For some reason, whilst fairy cakes in our house were baked in patterned cases with bright icing, chocolate cornflake (or crispy) cakes seemed always to be made in plain white cases...maybe it was the contrast with the rich dark chocolate...

Made from recycled felt and stuffed with polyfil. Completely hand sewn and stuffed.

Please note that as each cake is hand cut and sewn, the case and cornflakes may very slightly in each piece.
