ViewMaster 3D

Description

Back in 1979, these were a big thing.

I spent hours looking through the red viewfinder at a 3D version of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Now when I think about VCRs, DVDs, or the Nintendo DS, then I'm amazed that these static images held my attention for so long. But they did. The bears were even a little scary because they looked so real. (I was three. Everything was a little scary.)

Painting this was more about capturing the reflections on the desk, though. While I was happy with the way the ViewMaster and the disk looked, the painting didn't really come together well until I began to lay out the shapes of those reflections. Now they hold my attention the way the ViewMaster did back then.
