A Few of My Favorite Things, Hand Smocked and Embroidered Girls Dress Size 4

The food Rabbit hates eating more than any other food, is broccoli, so when she saw her bowl filled with broccoli this morning, she refused to eat. Walking to school she heard her tummy growling louder with every step she took. "Feed me!" it commanded. She cautiously looked around. Nobody was watching, so she slipped under the fence and into the nearest vegetable garden. This was more like it! It was full of her favorite foods; carrots, green onions, and red cabbage!! She decided, chewing her way down a row of carrots, that it would be much better to spend the day in the garden than to spend it at school. .......If anyone happens to ask you, -I haven't seen her, have you?~

This size 4, OOAK, hand-smocked, hand-embroidered dress is one that every little girl would love to wear! By a process of combining smocking and embroidery, I have created my own version of the classic smocked dress.

The diamond-shaped design of the smocking is stitched in white with a few rows of green for accent. Set into the middle of the smocked design is an original scene, composed by me and worked free-hand in both smocking and embroidery stitches. I especially like this combination because it gives a 3-dimensional effect as well as adds various textures and depth, while allowing me to work in the minute detail, (i.e. the rabbit's facial characteristics, or the white tips on the onions,) that I love to do.

The sleeves and back button placket are hand-trimmed in white blanket stitch. A few carrots and onions are embroidered between the three rabbit-shaped buttons on the back.

A complimentary matching, hand-embroidered pair of socks is included with this dress.
*(100% cotton is pre-washed to avoid shrinkage-) Machine wash & dry, warm/gentle
