Four assorted shiny silver keys for your next project – or just to add to your stash for your next flash of inspiration. These all have fairly minimal signs of age such as scuffing and rust. Plenty to give them character, but less than most of my keys.

Perfect for jewelry, assemblage, and altered art of all kinds, keys can convey so much. They can suggest opening or locking, of course, but they can also symbolize knowledge, mystery, initiation, curiosity, fidelity, or faith.

---About My Keys---
Please take my use of phrases like old, vintage, antique, retro, steampunk, etc. with a grain of salt – they are descriptive terms only in the case of keys, and I can in no way guarantee accuracy. When describing keys I am only guessing; I have no idea how to judge the age of keys other than “Yep, that looks old.” (This is true of keys only, I’m more careful with these phrases when it comes to paper goods as they are generally easier to date. See my Shop Policies for details.)

Keys are, unless otherwise specified, in “as found” condition. Please keep in mind you are purchasing a unique found object, not mass produced crafting charms. This means that any rust, dirt, patina, or oxidization are a result of use, time, the elements, and so on. I never clean keys, nor do I add bottled rust or patina – I leave these alterations to the artist. Keep in mind that rust and dirt may be loose, especially on the grubbiest of keys. When using them in your art, especially jewelry, you may want to clean and/or seal them to protect clothing and sensitive skin. (P.S. If you choose to alter them, alcohol inks also produce lovely effect on shiny keys.)

All keys are carefully matched up based on similarity of color, aging, size, shape, style, and so forth. They come from my large and growing collection gathered from collectors, metal detector hobbyists, and people cleaning out their attic.
