Description
railroad stop 1~signed print of an old loading station off hwy 5 in canton, cherokee county, georgia. 1st used to load cotton was then used to hold silk for loading.
"Canton was originally named Etowah and, upon the completion of its courthouse, renamed Cherokee Courthouse. Soon afterward, local businessmen launched an entrepreneurial adventure into silk production and were allowed to rename the town as Canton in recognition of Canton, China, a world-renowned producer of silk. Although silk production eventually failed, the town name remained. The county seat of Cherokee County was established in 1833 and renamed Canton in 1834."
photos are printed by an outside source with archival inks on fuji crystal archive photo paper. the print has glossy finish with white border inset in the print.
