Impasto Oil Painting - Blue
Description
"Blue"I can't think of a better example of an unintentional painting than an artist's palette. Its colors are poured directly from tubes and bottles of paint. Its surface has been touched by brushes and palette knives solely for the purpose of mixing and removing paint. It is not meant to be aesthetically pleasing. It is subject to randomness and chance.
The metal easels we used in art class had become encrusted with many layers of thick, dried oil paint. I scraped the paint from one of these easels and placed chunks of it on the surface of a little blue canvas, resulting in a very unusual effect that I couldn't have arrived at using traditional painting methods.
I have included a scan of the painting as well as a photo of it in the natural light. The colors you see on your monitor may vary depending on the calibration. Comes with a miniature easel for display.
The exposed staples give it that raw, gritty, "fresh from the studio" feeling. Great if you want to start collecting inexpensive original art, or if you want a real painting to hang in a dollhouse or diorama.
