Sense most of the sets I sell are custom orders from collectors anyway, except the sets I put together on the side to sell on eBay, I thought Etsy would be a great place to offer "custom orders" to everyone. So for example, if you would like your large decorative chess set to match your decor, I can do that. Because computer monitors can vary a lot in presenting color I like to get real samples. One of the ways I do this with people across the country is instead of mailing color swatches, is to have folk go in to there local Fedex and pick out color paper and email me the papers ID#. With a 9" tall king this is one of the largest and most detailed medieval themed chess set you'll find anywhere.. In the tradition of King Arthur's Camelot and the legend of Excalibur. Each set is a handcrafted limited edition work of art. This one is in the ebony and ivory look. Even though it has the design and detail to be in a museum collection, it is very playable because we use the best materials. (the knight's lance is removable). We have spent the extra time and money to assure that this set is vary durable and will last well into the future. They are made from a high impact, scuff resistant urephane plastic that is rigid but not brittle.. Cast under pressure, insuring a near perfect piece.This methed is more exspencive and requires special equipment and is harder to work with then the matierals used by most chess makers ( polyester resin, gypsum/plaster, ceramics ) all of which are brittle and not really suited for small detailed items. I think it is worth it to be able to offer a product that I can be proud of. They are solid, not hollow. I use marble dust to give them the weight and temperture of ivory. The king for example comes in at over a pound. Felt is applied with water prof glue so the set can be used outdoors as well as in.

The nice thing about "made to order" is just that, you can have it your way. For a low additional fee (above "Base Price") I can do Color matching , hand-painting as in coloring there clothes to look realistic or just painting in swords and crowns and/or antiquing. Normally we can ship the 24" King Arthur chess set in plain black and white within 4 weeks custom orders may or may not take a little bit longer depending. The 15" King Arthur in B & W within 2 weeks, custom a little longer and the smaller sets within 1 to 2 weeks of receiving payment, unless we currently have a waiting list.
