...or is it? this band is made from 418 stainless steel, also called greek ascoloy, which is a special grade of stainless steel that can be hardened through heat treatment. once the ring is machined from solid bar stock, it is heated in an oven to 1700° f then quenched in oil. then it's tempered for two hours at 1000° f. once it's cooled down, i can finish the ring however i'd like. this one has a brushed finish.
