Upcycled vintage woollen sweater in fire engine red handmade into felted vest with coordinating crochet trim in adjustable small to large size

For twenty years the pack rat in me made me save all my woollen pullovers, knowing/thinking one day I'd felt them and make something. Well, this is one of the results. After several washings in hot water, the original knit becomes thicker and felted. Please note that black top is not included in price.

This vest is tabard-styled, with crocheted chain lacing at the sides for adjusting fit according to preference. When lacing is at its most snug, the chest is 32" (31.5 cm. at level of armpit. Relaxing the side lacing will create larger side diamonds and will expand the top to up to 44" (111.5 cm.) or more. The arm holes are slashed on the diagonal to readily accommodate larger sized shoulder/arms. Length is 20" (50.5 cm.)from top of shoulder to bottom of the ribbing. The armhole, side and front edges are crocheted in a two-strand (fire engine + maroon) twist yarn in a wool blend. The same yarn is used for a decorative sinuous frond shape on the back.

Machine or hand washing in cool water will protect the wool blend yarn used in the accent edging and rear decoration from puckering. The body of the vest itself has been pre-shrunk from all the hot water felting process.
