Necklace, Lady Bug Jamboree Amulet Bag
Description
Be the only one in attendance to the ladybug jamboree. See the lovely little ladies dance around the bag and up the neck strap, playing amongst the flowers. I had such a blast making this bag; I wasn't sure how it was going to be embellished once I finished the green body, but I laid it on my table, right beside a bag of these cute lady bug beads I'd just purchased, and they just BEGGED for me to let them dance all over the bag! This amulet was knit using a mixture of seed beads in an array of greens, and thread in deep, dark green. A must see, as no computer screen can do the richness of these colors justice.
I love the look of amulet bags, they're quite beautiful worn as necklaces with any outfit, but you can always hide a little special keepsake in them, and none would be the wiser. However, you might get a few curious folks ask you what you keep in your little bag.
Victorians used them to store keepsakes from sweethearts, or lost loved ones. Native Americans used amulet pouches to store medicinal roots and herbs. I carry a variety of crystals in mine, and my daughter was quite proud to carry her very first lost tooth in hers, but only until it was time to give it to the Tooth Faery, of course!
