The Ashmolean has an excellent online resource, Pot Web, and I've often looked through their ceramics collections from different time periods (in lieu of having the money for a plane ticket to see them in person, of course!) Their early post-medieval section has a photo of several money boxes, which they described as 'mammiform'. o_O

I just had to try one -- my box has a smaller cup size.

High-fired stoneware is oven and dishwasher safe. The high-fire glazes used are food-safe.
