This necklace has been evolving over time... It all started with a rainy day. I live where it is oh so dry, but for most of my life have always lived in a super moist climate. So, every time it rains now it is very soothing and some well needed moisture. So, I set out to make a raindrop. I created a pendant out of sterling silver sheet that was hand cut and hammered. Then I added a hematite stone to the raindrop.

I couldn't just stop there. I know that rain can be depressing if it never ends. I looked at the pendant for weeks until I finally decided that the raindrop should make a rainbow. The best thing about endless rain is when it stops and the sun peeks through the clouds and a beautiful rainbow is made. I made a rainbow shape out of sterling silver wire and then wrapped and wrapped it with thin sterling wire and added some delicious beads. I used garnet for red, faceted agate for orange, faceted jasper for yellow, tiny green turquoise for green, faceted amazonite for blue, lapis lazuli for indigo, and amethyst for violet.

The chain has been made with a 4.8mm round sterling silver cable chain with quartz and hematite connectors along the way and ending with a handmade clasp. The chain measures 16" in length. The pendant hangs down about 2". I tend to like short necklaces, but if you would prefer this a bit longer or even shorter, I can easily adjust it.
