Fossilized coral wrapped in wire
Description
This amazing little piece of history was found right here in Oklahoma. Although you wouldn't know it at first glance, this state was once the bottom of a deep sea and therefore numerous oceanic fossils may be found here. I found the fossil myself, and then I soaked it in boiling hot water and gave it a gentle scrubbing to remove any loose dirt. Then I securely wrapped it in silver craft wire and added a jump ring so that it will be ready to hang on your favorite chain or cord. It measures 1 inch (3 cm) in length. This would be the perfect father's day gift for the history buff in your life! I've had these at craft shows and people of all ages just love them. This particular fossil is a Rugosa coral, also referred to as horn coral. They became extinct in the Permian period, but you can own a piece to take with you wherever you go!
*NOTE- this listing is for the pendant only. You may purchase a chain separately in the "add-ons" section of my shop. If you would like it made into a keychain, I will do so at no extra charge. Just inform me of this request in the "notes to seller" section when you check out.
*If you would like to know more about the process of finding and cleaning these fossils (with photos!), refer to my blog post about it here: http://hollyrocksjewelry.blogspot.com/2009/04/fossils-journey.html
