I have long envisioned interweaving sewing with painting.

One late evening, during the dying days of Winter, my vision came true as this rare tapestry was born. Born from a fierce battle. A battle between creativity and it's creator.

Ah, many think creativity only in terms of good, as a blessing. But to those who are tossed about by it's whims, it's more like a curse. (Though, a curse I am most thankful to be cursed with for sure!)

For when one is in the throws of creativity, one is no longer themselves. One is united with the creative force.

And that force is so vast and infinite that to be touched with it leaves one's spirit inflamed, with no drenching, until one has completed the task set before them.

Such was the case, this dark and dreadful evening I speak of...I, a mere vessel, as creativity ripped through me and out of me. Singeing my spirit along the way.

And what do we have? A rich corvus avis, with a violent red eye. Half-between here and there. Here being the present, and there being the past or future...a solitary fierce bird spanning the dimensions of time...

I took a raw piece of canvas and crafted the jagged edges with my sewing machine. I then applied some layers of oil paint straight to the raw canvas.
From there, I pulled out my bamboo pen and india ink and began sketching/drawing the crow perched upon its singing stage. I then added the extra branchwork and finished the piece off by recycling a dowel to use for hanging the piece and weighting the piece. The dowel in the bottom of the tapestry is completely sewn in so as to not slip out from the edges. The top dowel can slip off, after the faux leather cord is untied, should you decide you would prefer to hang it differently.

Every step, every stroke, every sewn line is intentional. This is a rugged and raw work of art. Meant to symbolize all that is natural and flawed.

All that is natural and flawed with such delicate precision that it screams of miraculous beauty.
