Wrens' Day - Unique State linocut print

Description

This piece took an hour to print. Each small wren was inked up and stamped within a stencil of a larger bird. The print for sale here is number seven of an edition of ten. Each print is unique because the smaller stamps were placed and layered in different ways.

It is based on the female of the Superb Blue Fairy Wrens that are found in Eastern Australia. Their numbers are decreasing as natural bush gets replaced by houses and lawns (while larger birds that like lawns, such as magpies and currawongs, are increasing in numbers.) We have a native garden and no cats so we are lucky to see these wrens every day. Every day is the Wrens' day at our place!

The paper size is 65.5cm x 52cm (25.5"x20.5")
