This Bunny Emery Pincushion is super cute and functional! I made it to match my Bunny Pincushion Ring.

Are you familiar with the little strawberry that comes along with the famous tomato pincushion? Do you know the purpose of that strawberry? It's an emery pincushion. Its purpose is to keep your pins and needles sharp. It is filled with a mineral called "emery". Emery resembles fine metal shavings. It’s used as an abrasive in industrial applications and on things like emery boards.

These pincushions are small, as far as pincushions go, but large for emery pincushions. They measure approximately 3 inches (7.62 cm) by 1 1/2 inches (3.8 cm). They are covered in acrylic/polyester felt. The bunny’s face is lightly stuffed with polyester fiber-fill.

Actually, they are covered twice. I wanted to be sure that the emery didn’t escape through the seams or through pinholes made into the fabric. I first made the pincushions with muslin, then covered them with the felt.

Please note that your Bunny Pincushion may not match the ones pictured *exactly*. It'll be very close though.

These are the perfect pincushions...They're cute, they're heavy so they won't slide around your work surface, they hold your pins and needles, and they're sharpened with every jab. What more could you want from a pincushion?
