Wabash Cannonball - oil painting on canvas

Description

This is a painting from a new group that I'm working on for an upcoming exhibit. My approach for this series is working quickly, with big brushfuls of paint, playing cool against warm. I then follow up with bold graphic elements - big black shapes on stark white, cake frosting background - and hard modeling.

The model for this piece is my husband. He actually took some really arresting photos of himself recently, looking gaunt, which I stumbled upon in my camera, and thought "hmm, haven't painted Rob in a while."
They used to always play that song "The Wabash Cannonball" on TV during basketball season, and I always assumed it was about the Wabash River, which flows across north central and far western Indiana. Where I grew up the TV stations originate from Terre Haute, "in the heart of the Wabash Valley".

This piece is oil and acrylic on 24" square on 3/4" deep canvas.

Shipping will be billed separately. Because of the size, shipping will vary too much place to place to list a flat cost here. I estimate $20 - $40 for a US address, and I'm happy to ship internationally as well. Please feel free to convo me and I can get a more detailed quote.
