Angle Bowl
Description
As the price of Baltic Birch has almost doubled in the last five years I’ve looked high and low for alternative materials – materials I can like. I’m not a big fan of particle board, though it has its’ place. Bambo is green and cool but the plywood sheets I’ve found are too expensive. My commitment to making affordable furniture won’t allow it.So, rather than stray from the birch I’ve come to horde the bits and pieces I used to give little thought to. Now, after making whatever it is I’ve made in the day I collect the smaller cuts, put them in a pile and say (to myself) what can I make from that?
The answer was bowls.
This is the second bowl of what is a series of bowls. It is the Angle Bowl. It is made from sheets of Baltic Birch glued together and sanded like mad.
I wouldn’t suggest using it to eat cereal out of, I think it would leak. The finish on this bowl is the traditional lacquer. I had some left from a long time ago and wanted to use the last of my supply.
Dimensions (in inches) are 14 1/4 x 10 standing 2 ½ high.
The bowls uuhhhh, pockets are about 1 ¼ deep
Thanks for looking.
