What is a whole cloth quilt? Here's your history lesson for today!

Whole cloth quilts were some of the first quilting styles brought to America by immigrants. The beauty of these solid white or colored quilts comes from elaborate, closely quilted designs that bring texture and shadows to the piece.
Only women of wealth and leisure had the time to develop and use such fine sewing skills. Eventually, ladies started using printed fabrics as well. The art of making these exquisite printed whole cloth quilts was first popularized in France and soon became popular in England as well.

Done with history, here are the details! I love the look of whole cloth quilts. They show off the beautiful fabrics we now have today. Whole cloth quilts have a vintage feel with a touch of elegance to them.

I use warm and white as the batting, then free motion quilt all over. I then wash and dry the quilt, which gives it the vintage look and feel we love today.

This quilt will last a lifetime, count on it being an heirloom, no matter how much your sweet baby loves on it!!
