Metamorphic Disk Earrings - One Inch Circles - Abstract Lichen

Description

I collaborate with nature to trigger metamorphic (slightly supernatural) change that occurs to the surface of these metal disks.

1"-diameter thin copper disks were carefully patinaed in light layers over 24 hours to produce a duet of abstract images that remind me of mossy lichen. A light finish of lacquer seals the design. The silver earwires are hand-coiled in non-tarnish sterling wire. These disks drop to 1-7/8" below your piercing, and are very comfortable to wear.

Each pair of patinaed earrings I make are unique, because the natural process never produces identical results. I try to balance a pleasing randomness with enough control to create a truly artistic result rather than allowing a haphazard result.
