Aleister Blackwood (1945-1978)

Description

The “Simian Salamander”. Cursed with a rare form of ichthyosis, Aleister never achieved center-stage with his astounding magick act. His unusual appearance relegated him to the sideshow bally until he became the renowned hypnotist, Dr. Satanos with Zacherley on WPIX’s Chiller Theatre.

Aleister is a red sock monkey with horns, bat-wings and a forked tail. His eyes are stacked vintage buttons.

Freaky Footsies, Sideshow Sock Monkeys are all handmade by Monica Knighton using new socks and stuffing materials. Each Footsie comes with his own Pitch Card telling his unique story that is signed and numbered by the artist. Each Footsie is a One of a Kind: facial features and outfits include vintage fabrics and an array of antique buttons and findings. While all Footsies are extra sturdy, due to their small parts they are not intended for young children. Costumes and clothing are attached and not removable unless otherwise noted.
