Gorgeous 1954 BARBIZON Tafredda French Vanilla Cream Side Zipper Rayon Slip with Scallop Hem and Bodice


The Barbizon company made high quality rayon and synthetic blend lingerie from 1933, until they sold to the Vanity Fair Corporation in 1991. They are unique in that they manufactured the very fabrics their garments were made of. You will notice beautiful names on their labels which help you to date the garments.

This lovely slip is from 1954 as the label has the "Tafredda" trademarked name from that date as well as "Sylph" . This is marked a size 12 but please review the actual garment measurements below. The fabric is a high quality rayon satin of a heavier hand and body to it and the simple cut of the slip, which zips on the side, is elegantly decorated with a scallop cut hem which repeats on the bodice edge. Just lovely! The bodice to skirt seam points in a downward V and the slip is a slight A line shape with the fabric cut on the bias for beautiful fit. The shoulder straps of heavy grosgrain ribbon are adjustable with metal fittings.

The condition is absolutely excellent; there are just a couple extremely faint tiny marks, not noticeable at all. Other than that, the slip shows no wear at all. I have hand washed and line dried as I do all my vintage lingerie before listing, so you can feel confident to slip into these garments right away or give as a gift.


Tailored just right and the warm vanilla color is so pretty on the skin.


Measurements of garment laid flat:
Cut on the bias for a little sideways give.



Bust - 35-36 inches (88.90-91.44 cm)
Waist - 27 inches (68.58 cm)
Hip - 36 inches (91.44 cm)
Length from underarm to hem approximately - 34 inches (86.36 cm)
