Trees on water is an original hand-pulled relief print with three separate blocks of lino printed on top of each other. I am using artist quality oil-based inks and high quality paper (acid-free, 120g, unsized).

The size of the image is 15x15cm with a 3cm border. As with traditional printmaking, the borders are hand-torn to indicate the authenticity of an artist print.

The print is signed, titled and editioned (5/10) on the front. This print is part of an edition of ten with all of them exploring different colourways and paper.

The scene is based on a series of plein-air sketches and pastel drawings of a winter landscape: trees against the horizon and a small pond with reflections. I did these sketches last winter in north-west Germany where I grew up. Part of the series is an exploration of stillness – here I have found the graphic nature of traditional linoprinting an exciting medium to explore and develop the original sketches.
