Necklace - Sterling Silver, Bamboo Agate, Golden Mookaite and Yellow Citrine - Creme Brulee in Couture Collection

The concept for this necklace was conceived before I even bought the beads. I actually came across the Agate first and the way they were photographed is what caused the idea to bloom into my head...:) I then remembered that a friend of mine was selling the Citrine rondelles and the beautiful rope chain and the same shop I nabbed the Agate from also had the lovely golden rounds of Mookaite. It was interesting how everything just fit into place!

~Wearability~
I wear each piece I make for a day so I can better communicate the wearability of a piece. The following commentary is, of course, merely my observations. I'm sure each person can tolerate different things for different periods of time.

This necklace is REALLY easy to wear...it's also really fun! As you can see from the bust shot, the stones are not at all overpowering in size and so they swing enticingly as you walk or bend over or do pretty much anything. Putting on teh necklace is just a matter of tossing it over your head so it's a quick 1-2-3 and out the door you go looking classy and ready to take on the day...:) It won't drag at your neck by the end of the day either because the whole thing is lightweight. I found myself flipping out the two dangles at the bottom every once in a while because they can swing up and over the Agates, but that doesn't detract at all and if I would have left them alone, they would have swung right back out. I'm just a perfectionist...;)

~Materials~
The beauty is in the details as they say and it's VERY applicable to this necklace. There are a lot of visual textures going on. The gorgeously detailed Bamboo Agates are both opaque and translucent and gradate in color from the darkest at the bottom to the lightest on top. They are spaced out and complimented by creamy, golden Mookaite with hints of rosy pink in some. Nestled in between the Mookaite and Agate are tiny little rondelles of yellow Citrine and just as tiny spacers of sterling silver. The Citrine almost seems to be hiding until the light catches it...then it sends out little flashes of brilliance to add yet another level to this piece. Everything is hung on a delicate, textured rope chain of sterling silver, sterling silver headpins and 26G sterling silver wire. The length of the entire necklace is approximately 40" (101.6cm). I say approximately because there is no clasp on this necklace and so I measured it as evenly as I could on one side and doubled it. The length includes the two Mookaite dangles at the tips. To give you an idea of the size of the stones, the largest Agates are 25mm x 18mm and the Mookaite beads are 6mm rounds. The Mookaite dangles fall about 2" (5.1cm) lower than the last Agate strand.

This necklace is very versatile. Its playful nature lends itself well to casual wear, but those flashes of light from the Citrines gives it that extra touch of class. Its easy wearability and weight will more than likely make it a daily favorite and it's almost neutral in that it can be worn with a wide range of colors and styles. It's just perfect!
