Necklace - Multi-colored Glass, Antique Brass and Aqua Tiger Tail - Dahlia in Casual Collection

This is the second necklace that was made using the beads I purchase from my wonderful mom's birthday gift...gift certificates to a lovely little bead shop in her area...:)

The creation of this piece started with the rectangular double holed glass beads and just went form there. It took me a while to find EXACTLY what I was looking for...my poor mom ended up having to take her jacket off!

~Wearability~
I wear each piece I make for a day so I can better communicate the wearability of a piece. The following commentary is, of course, merely my observations. I'm sure each person can tolerate different things for different periods of time.

This necklace has some weight, but because it's a relatively short piece, it's very comfortable to wear. Aside from moving with your body a little side to side and sometimes flipping in and out, it pretty much stays in place so you can wear it and forget it beyond accepting compliments on it...;) I feel this is a very casual piece, so a simple white shirt and some jeans would look great with this!

~Materials~
Every bead on this necklace is some variety of glass. The focal point of this necklace is definitely the six aqua, olive green and coral colored matte-finish, swirled rectangular glass beads. Each one measures approximately 3/4" (1.9cm). They are complimented by twisted bicone shiny and soft aqua-grey glass beads, square matte yellow glass beads, tiny antique brass spacers and just as tiny czech glass seed beads in pale yellow, aqua and coral. The colors, textures and different opacities really created a lot of visual interest without being overpowering or too busy. Holding the two strands of beads centered are two large-looped antique brass chains attached at the end with a simple antique brass lobster claw clasp. The necklace length from tip to tip is approximately 22" (55.9cm). I say approximately because the way I beaded the center piece doesn't allow it to be stretched out completely. The center piece is approximately 7 1/2" (19.1cm).
