Ski Hat with a Squiggle - an Aberrant Crochet Design

Named "Cross Country," this hat is created in indigo, rust, purple, rust and cream with hints/splashes of greens from high-quality microfibers.

It is aptly named for it's reminiscence to a colorful Central Texas wilderness hike 'n bike, or a cross country ski amongst purple mountain majesty!

This is one of my more popular hat styles in Austin, TX and has been purchased specifically for bike around town fund-raisers and events as well. Gotta have your crazy, fun, styling hat when you're tooling around Austin on your bike!

About the "Squiggle" Design:

This particular hat design is completely original to me and called a "squiggle hat" due to the "squiggle" that hangs like a pony-tail from the top back of the hat. (Not too unlike the doodles on classroom notebooks these days.)

How Soft?

The texture of this hat is super cuddly soft to the touch! (The kind I have to stand extra guard over at shows so people don't just bury their face into it, tempting as it may be.) The materials utilized here are amongst the softest and would certainly be comfortably appropriate for anyone under chemo care.

The Making:

This squiggle hat has been created with various crochet techniques and from a variety of microfibers from the US. There are no uncomfortable seams in this crochet piece. It is completely sculpted as one piece, with the squiggle permanently attached.

Perfect to show off your style during the holidays, on hikes and bikes, at the ice skating rink or on the ski slopes!

SIZE: One Size fits most heads ages 10 and up. Hats do have comfortable stretch and "thermal" affect and will "grow" with adult or child owners.

CARE: Hand or spot wash. Due to the micro-fibers, I always recommend spot clean first, though the yarns are hand washable. Believe it or not, these fibers hold up well, even in rain and snow and will dry well just fine on their own. But the texture will change a bit if completely soaked and agitated too much.

TOOLS: My hook of choice for this creation is a DayStar custom wood hook original. I firmly believe in the use of custom tools and a variety of texturing techniques and fibers from around the world. Hands down, it makes for a better quality product and experience.

As with all my pieces, this piece was freeformed into existence without patterns or notes, through a process I can Yarn Sculpting. Truly a OOAK (One Of A Kind) Pixie Worx! original.
