Vintage 50s Cocktail Dress Illusion Prom Dress Flocked Organdy

Fabulous 50's illusion cocktail dress by Peggy Page. This particular dress dates somewhere between 1955 and 1957.

Classic ‘New Look‘ silhouette with nipped in waist, fitted bodice and lovely full skirt. Made of flocked, black chiffon/organdy, decorated with beautiful flowers and pretty foliage, over a nude, acetate lining.

This dress has an oval shaped neckline, with v-shaped cut out panel at the front. The cut out measures about 4 inches (10cm) in length. There's a rear enclosed metal zip with hook fastener at the top.

You can wear this dress with a V-neckline if preferred. Please take a look at the photos provided. Just tuck in the front panels. Easy!

Waist 27 inches (68.5cm)
Bust 38 inches 96.5cm)
Free hips
Length shoulder to hem 40 inches (101.5cm)

Condition:

Very good/excellent. There are no rips or tears in this garment. I've found four tiny pin holes which aren't noticeable, on the back bodice (left side) and one at the front, right side. In no way does this detract from the over all appearance of this dress.

The lining fabric does have some marks on the inside but again, not noticeable at all when the dress is on.

PLEASE NOTE: The dress states dry clean only but I've decided not to clean the dress as it's perfectly wearable as it is. The over all condition is quite lovely. It will be up to the buyer to decide whether to have the dress dry cleaned or not but my advice is to take it to a specialist cleaner and one that has experience in dealing with genuine vintage clothing of this age.

If the buyer wishes to purchase the petticoat separately, please convo me and I'll send you photos and list it for you. I've used a neutral coloured, double-layer petticoat/crinoline made from a very high-quality soft tulle. The petticoat is brand new and was hand-made to order especially to showcase this dress. I intended to keep the petticoat for use with other garments but I'm happy to sell it to the buyer of this dress if required (approximate cost $80 USD).

Dress will be shipped by Royal Mail Special Delivery (UK) or by Airsure/International Signed-for (Worldwide). Insurance cover will be included.
