Twisty Relic Bracelet A
Description
From the far western edge of Europe to the Middle East, from incalculability ancient times to the late Middle Ages, men and women of many nations and from many places wore bracelets similar to these. And this particular specimen looks like it’s seen them all.
The Twisty Relic Bracelet is made of solid cold forged copper - the first metal ever worked by human hands - using the same techniques as the ancient metalsmiths. As part of the forging process, I gave it a nice twist, and carefully polished the raised area of the twist for an interesting contrast.
I’ve used a method that mimics the effects of long term burial to create a surface patina indistinguishable from that of a similar bracelet which might have been uncovered on an archeological dig in an exotic location, or uncovered in a lost treasure trove. The metal of this piece has developed the subtle brownish/mossy green surface coloration of old copper.
You could see pieces like this in museum collections, but this one you can wear on your wrist.
This bracelet can be adjusted to fit a wrist ranging from 6 to 7.5 inches. Measure your wrist between the wrist bone and the hand where it will ride comfortably, or, if you prefer, measure a little higher up the wrist. Be sure to send your measurements when you order so I can adjust the bracelet for the best fit before I send it out.
The Relic bracelet is discretely signed with my personal touch mark - a little fish all curled up - inside the flange, and comes in a nice black velveteen drawstring bag for safe storage.
A NOTE ABOUT COPPER AND COPPER ALLOYS: Copper and it’s alloys (brass, bronze, nickel silver), when kept in long term contact with the skin, will leave a greenish mark. This is more pronounced in some people than in others. It’s one of the characteristics of copper, and there really is very little that can be done to prevent it. Most lovers of copper, brass, and bronze jewelry accept this as a fact of life, but in the interest of making sure you know what you’re getting, I want to mention it.
ABOUT PATINAS: The patinas I use are designed to mimic the look of age on metal. As you wear the jewelry, the metal will ACTUALLY age, and you should expect the patina to change. One of the things that people love about antiques is the actual surface changes that occur as the piece ages, and the change in the patina should be viewed as an increase in the beauty of the piece, not a defect.
