Vintage Mixed Media Art Light Box Beautiful Lady

Thanks so much for viewing my art! I am a gallery represented artist, and have been collected internationally for almost 20 years. I enjoy creating mixed media paintings, light-based art, collages, prints, and jewelry.

For this particular piece I have used an 1880's CDV photo a beautiful young lady. I have stitched several rows of thread around the image to let little pinpoints of light radiate out from the piece. The piece measures a large 10" x 13.5" x 2.75".

Each piece is an original hand-made mixed media light box that is truly one-of-a-kind! I have been making these pieces for about 10 years. Using layers of corrugated paperboard to make the sides, I hand build each box, then mount a piece of plexiglas to the front of the work. Next a xerograph of a vintage photo is added and the sides are collaged with copies of vintage newspaper or old music sheets. I have a collection of over 1000 antique photographs I can choose from to create each work. To finish the piece off, I cover the entire work with old dress pattern paper which further enhances the illuminating, almost angelic quality, of each piece of art. The images are permanent and will not fade over time. Each work is truly a unique piece that reflects my love for antique photography and illumination.

This work is lit by a single 5 or 7 watt nightlight bulb in a candleabra socket, and comes with a 6 ft. lamp cord which plugs into any standard outlet. The bulb can easily be changed from the back of the piece, and the piece can easily hang on a single small nail.

The colors and texture of this piece are greater than the photos can possibly show- The illuminating quality of the work can be seen during the day, but it really comes alive at night! I build each piece using high quality materials, and careful construction, so that it will last for many years to come.

In addition, because of the low wattage lighting used, the work can be continuously lit with no danger of overheating. This makes it a comforting piece to illuminate any room in your home! See the bottom photo for an example. This piece is signed, sealed, and ready to hang!
