Description
The phrase "Memento mori" or "Remember you are mortal" dates back to Roman days, when legend claims that a ceaser in his triumph would keep a slave nearby to remind him that, even in the heights of glory, he remained but a man. The phrase has gone on to encompass an entire genere of art which, though wide ranging in style and execution, has one singular purpose: to remind its viewers of their own inevitable end.This eyecatching pendant features a skull peering out amidst a field of dark roses. Hand sculpted from polymer clay and finished with black acrylic paint and a final glossy protective coat, the pendant measures 2 inches across. It dangles from an equally-striking chunky chain upcycled from thrift store jewelry.
The necklace closes with a lobsterclaw clasp and measures 23 inches. It can be shortened before shipping upon request.
