Nippon Era Handpainted Noritake Cups and Saucers 4 sets
Description
This is a wonderful Nippon era set of handpainted Noritake cups and saucers. They depict a scenic design highlighted with a pair of swans upon a lake. The soft pastel colors are beautifully applied to both cup and saucer and the cups have the handpainted Nippon mark surrounding the classic Noritake M within the wreath."Nippon" is a date type designation for Japanese pottery and china and is usually written as part of the marks found. The production years were between 1891 through 1921. Before this time it was not necessary for exported items to America to have a maker's mark.
This lovely set could be a beautiful and thoughtful, something old, gift for a bride. Swans are traditional symbols of monogomy and associated with marriage because of their graceful beauty and total commitment to each other.
This lovely set is in very good shape with only some minor loss to the gold on the cup handles. There is no chipping or cracks.
The cups measure 3 inches across and the saucers are about 5 inches.
Due to their age and delicate nature I recommend hand washing.
