Lola BEE - a bookMARK

Lola Bee is a bookmark but so much more serene, more magestic, more fashionable --- in short, she is a "bookGoddess" if you please!

9.25" tall by 2.5" (234mm x 65mm) Lola is lovingly made entirely by ME - each component carefully added after I threw caution to the wind. Really, the bookGoddesses (and all my art) are about letting the art happen and I just try not to get in the way of what the universe wants to do with my art supplies on any given day. ANd these are the results!

Her colorful tunic is cut from an old calendar - I liked the birds and the bee! I molded her face from playdoh which I painted to resemble ancient metal. Her hat is made from bits of fabric (I never throw anything away!!) embellished with dots of metallic gold paint so look like bells. Who doesn't want a hat with bells on it? Her skirt is a bit of purchased paper because even I cannot resist the allures of the paper asile at Michael's! Finally, Lola Bee has wheels instead of feet - given the choice, wouldn't you prefer wheels? And the one wheel has added tread for traction in those really difficult to read passages.

Altogether, Lola is the kind of bookmark that will happily read anything with you - she just wants to be along for the ride as page-turning is her very favorite thing in the world. She also likes it when you gasp outloud at the really astounding bits in the book.
