Chrocheted Doily, White

Description

This doily is old fashioned in style but has some surprising textured effects from raised, front-post stitches, particularly in the center and in the solid band halfway out. The border features a frilly double-scalloped edge with (again!) lots and lots of picots.

Approximate Size: 20 inches in diameter.

Color: White.

Thread: 100% cotton crochet thread, size 10, matte finish; Baroque, by DMC.

Care: this doily is 100% cotton and can be washed gently by hand. Lay flat on a towel to dry at room temperature, then block into shape.

Blocking: I never starch my doilies. To block them I use a hot steam iron to press the doilies into shape, working from the center out, pulling out and pressing individual picots on the border. This technique gives a nice body to the crocheted piece but retains a pleasant, natural feel.
