Kente Wisdom - Mixed Media Collage

Description

This collage was inspired by the magnificent colors of the Kente cloth of the Ashanti royalty in Ghana. Silk was woven into 4" wide cloth on specially designed looms, and then interwoven into larger pieces

The colors have various symbolic and spiritual meanings:

gold - royalty, spiritual purity

green - growth, renewal

purple - usually worn by women, celebrating femininity

red - political, spiritual moods



Kente Wisdom - is an original mixed media collage on 6x4 canvas board. Several layers of tissue were painted with artist grade acrylics. India ink was used for the illustration

You can hang it by the gun metal chain, or just prop it up on an easel or bookshelf

I finished it with several coats of water based gloss medium varnish. The back is covered with a lovely art paper
