Niche Side Table

Description

The impetus for this sidetable was simply to try and make one a little different. I started with the question of what it had to have. It needs horizontal shelves so stuff doesn’t slide off. Ya, that’s about it. So this design is what happened.

It’s made to store that collection of unread magazines and to-be-read newspapers I always have stacked on my kitchen table.

I called it Niche because that’s what the shelves go into, little niches. Niche is made of ¾ inch Baltic Birch lazily cut on a very large CNC machine. Like most all of my stuff I use laminates indiscriminately.

This is Niche the Third actually and I laminated the legs because you can’t imagine how much time it takes to sand the niches after every spraying of finish. With the laminate I only sand once.

The shelves have been simplified from previous versions making it all the more affordable without affecting performance.

The Niche side table is about 26 inches high and 24 inches front to back. It comes with four shelves. Each shelf is about 18 inches front to back and 17 inches wide.

Niche comes with three shelves. You can get a fourth shelf if you need it, for an additional charge.

Standardly the Niche comes in with black laminate or white laminate legs. I can do other colors for an additional charge.
